The guys in Green Day have been on the big screen a few times this year in documentaries, but now frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is ready to show off his acting talent.
He's set to play the boyfriend of "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester in the upcoming indie drama "Like Sunday, Like Rain." The movie is being directed by "Ray Donovan" actor Frank Whaley, and also stars Debra Messing.
The film tells the story of a struggling musician - played by Meester - who suddenly becomes the guardian of a 12-year-old music prodigy.
Filming is under way now in New York, although "Like Sunday, Like Rain" doesn't have an official release date just yet.
Meanwhile, one of Armstrong and Green Day's new documentaries, "Broadway Idiot," is set to be part of this year's CBGB Film Festival. The event starts October 8th in New York City, while "Broadway Idiot" will play on October 10th. The behind-the-scenes look at the Broadway musical version of the band's "American Idiot" album will also be released on DVD on November 12th.
